Klimt inspired art

I love all things Klimt. I was asked to do my version  of 'The Kiss'.  I have done several (using various mediums) over the last 10years because I love the feeling the painting evokes especially the original done by Gustav Klimt himself over 100 years ago.

I took some pictures of some of the stages during my creation.  This time I used H2O watercolour paints, Primarker pens, Tim Holtz Distress Inks and of course lots of my gorgeous foils.
Here is the finished painting.. It is 15" x 20" I am very pleased with it.

I started by drawing the outlines of the people. I used promarkers to colour the skin tones and hair and because I wanted their clothes to shine like gold so I decided to use H2O's to colour his and her clothes.. these paints are loaded with mica and give such a beautiful sheen which is perfect for this painting.  You can see the glow of the paints in this picture.  .

Then I painted the cloak that surrounds them both using a lovely rich yellow H2O paint.

Then it was time to prepare my background.  I masked off the edges so they would be neat and used lots of Chipped Saphire, Aged Mahogany and Gathered Twigs Distress inks... then sprinkled water all over and lifted the ink with kitchen towel to make the dreamy looking background.  Later I flicked some Solar Gold H2O paint on aswell to add lovely golden sparkle around the couple.

I cut a piece of card to shape of the ground they are kneeling on and used lots of ink and alcohol  pens in very bright colours Lol..

I added foils lots of  the patches all over his coat using various shades of golds, silver and coppers. I used a glue pen to put the vines that fall down from them and then cut small triangles of dst to add more gold foil. I filled in the details on her face and added more coloured foils to her dress.
I am sure this won't be my last painting of the Kiss Lol... there are so many ways using so many different art materials that this picture can be created.  Thankyou for visiting my blog today and I hope you like my painting.

Summer Flowers for Pots

When Joanna asked me to design lots of little flowers to fit into her brand new signature container dies, I knew I would l love them... and I do.  They are so much fun to play with!.. when I was asked to make a card for a friends Mum who loves flowers - I knew that these would be perfect for her.

All the flowers on this card are from the Summer Flowers for Pots sheet  of stamps.  The container I used here is the Joanna Sheen Signature die - Hanging Basket

I stamped all the flowers out multiple times on sheets of white card using various colours of  ink pads.. then spent a very relaxing few hours colouring them all in with promarker pens.
I cut out the ones I wanted for the card, leaving the rest for the next card I make. I added some cut out flowers on the inside of the card as well.

The backing paper on the card was stamped with several colours to create a clean bright pattern.  The Background for the image was created using the brick and stonework stamps from Joanna Sheen Country House stamps that I designed a few years ago.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I would love to know what you think of these little flowers and the new wonderful Signature Container dies  that are available on the Joanna Sheen website right now!.

Thomas Kinkade windows

I love with the Madison Window die by Poppy Stamps, I treated myself to it a few months back.  Here I've used it with some printouts from Joanna Sheens Thomas Kinkade CD Rom.
I used the beautiful Christmas cd from this set - I chose which part of each image looked good 'through the window' and cut to size adding some beautiful stampendous vintage glitter to each scene for some sparkle.  I used a score board to add the embossed lines.
I really like how simple and clean they look.

For these cards I  embossed the front of the card with a brick effect folder, cutting out the window part first.  I cut two madison window dies for each card - one for the front and one for inside the card to look neat.  The 'stained glass effects' are cut outs from a fabulous book I have had for years and years called:
I coloured these with promarkers so they didn't warp the vellum.  I think they look simple but nice.

Thank you for visiting today.

~FREEBIE~ A Palace for you

With all the Jubilee celebrations last weekend I thought I'd use some of the  images and papers that seem to be free  in all the craft magazines at the moment.
I wanted to use the Iron Gates stamp that I designed for Joanna sheen on the Country House stamp sheet , I needed a Palace to go with the gates so I drew this one on the computer.
Please feel free to click on the image, click view image to save the PNG.  It will print out approx  8" wide, or smaller if you wish.

Here's a card I made using the image and the Iron Gates from the Country House stamp sheet

To make this card I first printed out the Palace and coloured it with promarker pens. Then I stamped the gates using versamark ink adding gold embossing powder to the tips of the gate and black to the rest of them.. I stamped and cut out the stone gate posts and stuck them next to the gate.  I used one of my spellbinder nesties to draw around and cut out the shape and mounted it onto black card.   The pretty bunting is a freebie from Crafts Beautiful magazine.

I made the roses using a spiral die, cutting them out of buckrum.. they are so easy to make and look gorgeous on cards or other projects.

Thank you for visiting my blog today I hope you like the Freebie.

Knitting Stamps

Sorry it's been a while, I did mean to add these Joanna Sheen Knitting stamp sample cards much earlier.
I made 4 cards for the shows but I cant wait to make more Lol..
Here is the first one.. a knitting bag card.
...and when you open it up it has all this inside...
To make this card I created my own template.. Feel free to download it and use it yourselves .. click on the image and save.
You will need to use the template to cut 2 parts and then you overlap the flaps on the bottom and glue them together... this makes the bag ready to embelish etc.
I used the template to cut out the paper to both line and cover the bag. I used the stamps to create the patterned paper for the inside, adding extra stamps from the Joanna Sheen Haberdashery range of stamps . For the outside I stamped the images first and then embossed them throught the cuttlebug using the Square lattice embossing folder by Stampin up. Acetate scored and folded created a little stand inside the bag to glue other bits and pieces that I stamped out using the Haberdashery stamps.. the little gift card holder is a piece of card with corners to hold the card.
The flap over the bag is also embossed with the square latice folder then glued to the back with velcro added for the front to hold the bag card shut with a button to embellish.
The handle of the bag is coloured with a Tan promarker pen. I used a die to create the rose but embossed it before rolling up.. to make a 'knitted' Rose..Lol..
.. This bag was alot of fun to make and I hope that some of you will be inspired to use the template and make one for youreselves, if you do, I'd love to see it.

Here is the second card I made...
I stamped the borders on the sheet in various colours direct onto the card. The lovely house is stamped from Joanna Sheen's Garden of dreams Countryside stamps and coloured with promarkers. The heart is stamped with a mixture of ink and then embossed through the cuttlebug with the Square lattice folder.

For the third card I cut out a square of card... embossed it with the square lattice folder... then pricked some holes and used wool to do blanket stitch around the edge. I then stamped the lovely knitted heart and the I love knitting stamp and added it to the card.
and here is the forth card
I stamped onto brown craft paper the borders and tile square.... making sure to stamp the ones I wanted white - with versamark to emboss with white powder. and then run it through the cuttlebug in the square lattice folder. (you might have guessed by now that this folder is fabulous for knitting theme or embroidery theme cards) I made a tassel out of the wool and added some under the little greeting.

Thank you for visiting my blog today... I hope I've inspired some of you to use the templates and have play too.

Last of the Jane Shasky card samples

The third sheet of Joanna Sheen's Jane Shaskly stamps is called 'Slice of Heaven'

Here is the first of 3 cards I made using it.
ThePatchwork toppers background paper is printed out from the Joanna Sheen In other words CD. I coloured a round doily with promarkers and the image is also coloured in using promarker pens. I made the roses from die cuts and the letters are from Tim Holtz typeset decoritive strip... my new favourite alphabet die Lol!

For the second card 2 die cut frames are used... one has a pretty doily inside and the other the image.. I used both promarkers and watercolour distress inks to colour the stamp. I added some matching style flowers to carry on the look and added the verse in the top corner. The backing paper is from the Jane Shasky CD

Here is the final card, it uses the other image on the stamp sheet. I coloured it with promarkers and watercolour distress inks. Two brickwork embossed large corners were lightly inked and the flowers are stamped pressed flowers by Joanna Sheen. I added a large tulle bow tied with blue ribbon and added the verse on the card to finish.

Thank you for visiting to day and taking a look at my sample cards.

There will be more of my sample cards coming soon after this weekend's TV shows on Create and Craft TV. when Joanna launches some more of my designs as rubber stamps...

More to come....

Jane Shasky Stamp sample cards Day 2

Today's samples are from the stamps on Jane Shasky rubber stamp sheet - Relax and enjoy

This card is 6 x 6" with a gatefold. I stamped and coloured the image with promarkers cut it out and mounted on foam tape onto a pretty shaped card with gems and ribbon added. The inside of the card looks like this...
I used Jane Shasky CD backing paper to show the verse of nicely.

Here is another card made using the same image...
For this card I stamped and embossed 2 images onto black with white embossing powder and then again twice onto cream and black embossing powder. Making sure all the squares were exactly the same size, before I grouped them on to the card I lightly inked the edges of the cream squares and the verse topper...finishing off with a few gems and little silk Roses.
The other image on the sheet is this lovely Window box

The backing paper is from the Jane Shasky CD. I coloured the doily with promarkers. The tag is the verse stamped in Weathered wood ink, then I decided to try to match the tag to the paper (it would have been easy to simply stamp onto a piece of the same backing paper duh!!..).. but it was an after thought... so I used promarkers to colour a similar pattern.. I used a white gel pen to shadow the letters to make them stand out more.. Alot of cards that I make grow as I do them... Lol..
I stamped the image using Tim Holtz weathered wood ink. I carefully coloured all the flowers and leaves with promarkers and decided to leave the window frame and box white, so I coloured the windows pale blue and the outside of the frame grey..I think it makes the image pop out.. heres a close up.
I added a few punched butterflies that I coloured with promarkers..

Thanks for visiting my blog today... and as usual, your comments are very welcome..
HUGS X
