Joanna Sheens Victorian Christmas Cards CD Samples

Joanna launched a brand new Christmas CD on Friday

I loved making these samples for the show

This one uses the large topper on the printed sheet. I layered it onto gold and red and for the background I used torn papers to continue the snowy scene in the picture.

I used the larger topper on the printed sheet plus one of the star decorations from the decorations section on the CD.  I scored lines and folded the star to make it 3D.  I put an acetate sleeve over the picture adding white dots all over for a more snowy effect. Both the backing papers are on the CD.

I used the large topper and a smaller one from the sheet.  I made a shaker bauble with the smaller one adding a frilly lace edge.  I added tiny blue stars and gems all over the card! The backing papers are from the CD.

I used a larger topper and smaller one on the sheet plus the backing paper and sentiment. This card is simply matting and layering with a lovely bright polka dot ribbon bow.

I used the large topper and the backing paper that already had the small round image in the corner. The snowflake frame is punched out as is the red border at the bottom.

I used one of the smaller images on the printed sheet with one of the sentiments. Everything else is cream card embossed and gently highlighted with Antique linen distress ink. The background was scored on my hougie board. I added punched holly, some gold papers and gems to finish.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I hope I've inspired some of you to have a go at CD crafting.

I'll be back later with my samples from the Vintage floral stamps.

Joanna Sheen Patchwork Stamps

The Everyday set of the Joanna Sheen Patchwork stamps is NEW TODAY on Create and craft TV... I also designed a  Christmas Patchwork set  - Joanna will be bringing them to you next month.

It makes life easier when stamping if you use an acrylic block with a grid .. I don't have one so I decided to create one that can be printed out onto acetate and stuck onto a block.
Here is the link at the Joanna Sheen Ltd website for you to download the PDF doc.  All the instructions are also on the same printable sheet.

These are so much fun to play with. There are so many ways to use them on cards. I looked on the Internet for quilt block patterns (as I am not a quilter) that I could use for designs on cards, there are literally 100's of them to choose from in as many colour combinations too.
Here are  the sample cards that I made shown on  TV today.

8" x 8" card. I stamped all the patches onto one piece of card, the grid on the acrylic helped me keep the design straight. (Link to download the grid is above)
I used Tim Holtz ink pads - Seedless preserves, Weathered wood and Peeled paint - the Butterfly is from the Joanna Sheen I Love Knitting Stamp set I stamped with versamark and embossed with white embossing powder and then water coloured  it using the same colour inks as the patchwork.  I added the faux stitching around the edge after using a pricking ruler to make the holes.

8" x 8" card.  I stamped the design all in one colour to begin with making sure to use the triangles in the right places within the design. Then I coloured in the sail boat using promarker pens, adding faux stitching with a white gel pen around the boat pieces. I then used two embossing folders - one for the sky and boat and the swirls for the sea, I liked this because it adds texture and in a way simulates the stitching found on some quilts. It's a really easy and very quick way to use the stamps and make a patchwork card.

8" x 8" card.  I used Tim Holtz squeezed lemonade ink and two different multi-colour ink pads - one colour is called Tropical and the other is Pastels... both are pigment ink and I've had these pads in my stash for many years and they are still like new to use. If you have the new Tim Holtz pens or those little dew drop ink pads they could also be great to create a multi coloured inked patch.  I stamped and embossed  each one with clear powder all onto one piece of card and then used the pricking ruler guide to prick around each piece of the design and then stitched with red and white cottons.  The lovely topper is from the

A5 size card.  First of all I cut a piece of card to the size I wanted for the quilt and then I embossed it using this lovely wire fence embossing folder, I used the de-bossed side to stamp directly onto using the  multi-coloured pastel pigment ink pad that I have. I think that leaving some of the area unstamped with only the white embossing really does look 'quilt like' (If that's a word LOL!)  The die cut pram was lightly rubbed with the ink pad and then  heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The really cute little rabbit topper is again from Joanna Sheens Little Suzys Zoo - Snuggle up time  - sheet of stamps.

A5 size card.  I used a gate fold card to create the waistcoat shape (I will add a template later) I stamped lots of various patches onto black paper and embossed with various metallic embossing powders, then cut each one out and stuck onto a piece of blue paper creating a quilted backing paper.  I covered the waistcoat fronts with this adding the buttons to finish it off.  The inside has gold card lining along with the greeting.

A5 size card.  I made templates for the tea cozy envelope, the card and the teabag envelope. (see below).  To cover the tea cozy I created a backing paper first and stuck it to each side.  The tea pot and cup are an adaptation of the ones I used in this post - scroll down to find the template is on this page to download and save.

I hope these cards will inspire you to buy these stamps and have a go for yourself. I will be sharing many more cards here in the the next few weeks so watch this space Lol..
Thanks for visiting today

I made this card for my daughter's birthday last week.  She is planning to buy some Annie Sloan paint very soon to uplift some lovely old bedroom furniture.. I am loving the Shabby look too!

I used my new Anna Griffin embossing borders folders on the 'drawers' and on the top , I rubbed some copper gilding paste over the embossed areas.  The beautiful perfume bottles are rubber stamped.

Thanks for looking... see you soon.

Wedding samples

All these samples are made using the Joanna Sheen Lace stamps

 (1) This first card is a folded piece of Black A4 card, folded along 2 DL  scored lines.  I have seen this idea for a heart flap on the web so decided to create my own, so I drew a heart template and used it to cut out the heart on the front flap on the black card. Then I cut another heart from some lovely pearly card but before I glued it to the front, I punched a small hole for the ribbon to poke through near the edge on the side and another hole at the same height level on the right side of the middle part. I also punched another hole on the black heart at the same level again, ready to thread the ribbon back inside.

I printed out the details of the wedding onto some Ivoy paper cutting both this and a blank piece to the same size to fit in the panels. I stamped the Lace border along the top with black Ink then stuck them inside. Once I had done that I threaded the black ribbon  making sure it is level and only then did I stick the Ivory pearly heart onto the front securing the ribbon and it looks neat, plus the ribbon over the middle panel means that extra printed instructions or other info can be added and stay neatly in place.  I also added little pockets, these are cut to size a bit narrower, stamped and embossed with white powder, I edged mine with more black ribbon and stuck down with foam pads around the edges creating a pocket.  All the black card on the pockets and the right flap have pinstripes that I made with a stardust pen.

 (2) This is a 6 x 6" cream card with the inside pockets added with foam pads.  The front panel is the small flower stamp on the Live each moment Lace stamp sheet stamped and embossed white onto a piece of black card.  Then I layed a piece of Ivory spiderweb netting on the top and taping it on the back to hold it in place. I stamped the Lace border onto black card with white embossing powder, cut out and added it to the panel, after I added a strip of black ribbon, I glued it to the front of the card. I made a simple cream Rose to the ribbon.  The Letters for Invitation on the fron are die cut with cream card using Tim Holtz Decorative Typeset Strip Alphabets die.

Inside I added a black card panel.  Then I cut a piece of cream card the same width, stamped both the Lace Corners , trimmed to the shape then matt and layered onto black card and stuck it down with foam pads on the edges. I printed out the information, stamped the lace borders along the tops, added the black ribbon bow to finish it.

(3) This invitation used the Goals you reach stamp sheet.   Again it is 6 x 6" cream card.  I used an embossing folder on vellum to create the top panel. The lacey strip is also stamped onto vellum and cut out then stuck onto the embossed panel with thin DST, I added the red ribbon folding it round the edges and stuck it as one panel onto the card.  The Wedding invitation was stamped onto vellum with Mahogany distress ink and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Inside, again like the previous invite,  I added a panel with rounded corners. To get the exact border I used Mahogany distress ink to colour the edges of a panel and used that to mount the cream cut out panel onto and then timmed it.  I stamped 2 of the corner lace stamps onto vellum cutting the corner edges a bit bigger I scored and folded inwards, rounded the corners then I added pinflair to the folded pieces sticking them down lining them up to the edges. Then I printed out the info, stamped the lace border onto each piece with Mahogany distress ink, rounded the corners again and popped them in the pockets once the pinflair was completely dry.

(4)  This card invitation used the corner stamped onto a panel and embossed with white in each corner, then inked with Antique linen distress ink, then matt and layered onto red card leaving a panel at the bottom where I used a border punch. The layered panel and the words are also stamped, embossed and inked the same way.  Pretty spoty ivory ribbon around the panel and as a bow were added then I glued everything to the card base.
The inside panel is a printout with the info  and a printed border.  I used the edge of the corner lace stamp to create the borders down the sides.. again with white embossing powder and inked with Antique linen ink.

(5) This card used the Take one step Lace stamp sheet.    On other invites I've made before (with pressed flowers) I have used a piece of long card to fold this type of card, but I don't have any large white card sheets, so I used 2 6 x 6" cards stuck together creating 3 sides. I cut one side to create the bottom flap.I used a pale green/grey colour thin card to add the panels shown.. The front raised piece has tiny white polka dots which I thought looked pretty.  I used both the hearts and the border from the stamp sheet on the front and inside

For the lacey heart on the printed panels, I stamped with versamark and used chalk to colour, I didn't have the right colour so scraped the dust of a few colours mixing them until I was happy with the shade and dusted the stamped image with a brush.

 (6) This last card used the border from the sheet.  I stamped and embossed it with white powder 4 times then inked with blue distress ink, cut them all out.  On the 8x8" card, I glued a piece of white spider web netting cut to 6 x 6" in the middle of the net.  The middle can be anything, decoupage, a photo, a sentiment... I chose to use a Rose I made.  first I stuck down the borders using only 3 segmants from each border arranged as shown.  Then I added the rose in the middle.  3 pearls in 2 corners balanced the words in the other corners. I added a few punched butterflies too.

Thank you for visiting my blog today, I hope I've inspired someone to have a go at using the Lace stamps to create your own invititions and cards.
See you soon

Cameo meets Anna Griffin

Here are some cards I made with the Lace and Cameo stamps with some of my stash.

I used some of the lovely Anna Griffin frame and quote stamps when they were on QVC a while ago.  The backing paper used on this card is from the Thomas Kinkade CD... there are some gorgeous backing papers on this fab CD collection that I use all the time. I used the square lattice embossing folder by SU for the cream panel.. I love this folder because I love the texture.  The Lace is from the Live each moment stamp sheet stamped onto cream paper with aged mahogony Tim Holtz distress ink.  Those lovely Roses are from a lovely pack of Anna Griffin Rose 3D stickers ... I love those Lol...

Another similar card here but using the Tied together embossing folder inked one side on the folder with TH Antique linen before running through my cuttlebug.. I love this effect, it's so soft. I used two layers of white embossed lace that I coloured after with ink .. adding a bow from the same Live each moment Lace stamp sheet and two gorgeous Anna Griffin yellow 3D Rose stickers.

For this card I stamped one of the Cameos onto black card and embossed with Gilded Ivory embossing powder then die cut the cameo using a spellbinders oval die.  I then stamped one of the lovely Anna Griffin oval frames using the same embossing powder - layering the cameo over the frame.  Using a small 4" doily and some lovely black patterned card (which is card from packaging that I had to save!).. to tone down the white card I inked the edges using TH Antique linen ink.  Quite a simple card to make but I think looks fab!

I did the cameo the same way as above but stamped onto cream card and then inked it green...for the frame I inked TH Bundled sage green on the outside of frame and TH weathered wood in the inside.  I added some lace from the Take one step lace stamp sheet that was stamped and embossed with seafoam white and inked with the TH bundled sage green... this is layered over some  gorgeous  backing paper from the Ivory cats CD

This Card using the same technique used above to create this kind of cameo but this time using shades of pink ink to create the coloured cameo   The gorgeous backing paper is from the lovely Ivory cats CD.

Knitting Stamps

Sorry it's been a while, I did mean to add these Joanna Sheen Knitting stamp sample cards much earlier.
I made 4 cards for the shows but I cant wait to make more Lol..
Here is the first one.. a knitting bag card.
...and when you open it up it has all this inside...
To make this card I created my own template.. Feel free to download it and use it yourselves .. click on the image and save.
You will need to use the template to cut 2 parts and then you overlap the flaps on the bottom and glue them together... this makes the bag ready to embelish etc.
I used the template to cut out the paper to both line and cover the bag. I used the stamps to create the patterned paper for the inside, adding extra stamps from the Joanna Sheen Haberdashery range of stamps . For the outside I stamped the images first and then embossed them throught the cuttlebug using the Square lattice embossing folder by Stampin up. Acetate scored and folded created a little stand inside the bag to glue other bits and pieces that I stamped out using the Haberdashery stamps.. the little gift card holder is a piece of card with corners to hold the card.
The flap over the bag is also embossed with the square latice folder then glued to the back with velcro added for the front to hold the bag card shut with a button to embellish.
The handle of the bag is coloured with a Tan promarker pen. I used a die to create the rose but embossed it before rolling up.. to make a 'knitted' Rose..Lol..
.. This bag was alot of fun to make and I hope that some of you will be inspired to use the template and make one for youreselves, if you do, I'd love to see it.

Here is the second card I made...
I stamped the borders on the sheet in various colours direct onto the card. The lovely house is stamped from Joanna Sheen's Garden of dreams Countryside stamps and coloured with promarkers. The heart is stamped with a mixture of ink and then embossed through the cuttlebug with the Square lattice folder.

For the third card I cut out a square of card... embossed it with the square lattice folder... then pricked some holes and used wool to do blanket stitch around the edge. I then stamped the lovely knitted heart and the I love knitting stamp and added it to the card.
and here is the forth card
I stamped onto brown craft paper the borders and tile square.... making sure to stamp the ones I wanted white - with versamark to emboss with white powder. and then run it through the cuttlebug in the square lattice folder. (you might have guessed by now that this folder is fabulous for knitting theme or embroidery theme cards) I made a tassel out of the wool and added some under the little greeting.

Thank you for visiting my blog today... I hope I've inspired some of you to use the templates and have play too.
