Hearts for Mother's Day....

I think I am having a mild addiction to honeycomb paper Lol...  Here are my latest projects.  I've made each heart shape using mount board.  I only have a few colours of honeycombe paper but I still enjoyed finding papers etc to look nice with them.  I made my own template for the hearts but used a die to cut the honeycombe hearts.. each one uses only half a heart so the paper goes a long way.  I made my own template for the stands too although you can get some really fancy dies, maybe one day I will invest in one...

This is anaglypta wallpaper that I have inked up with Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade ink.. I used pressed Honesty seed heads with some small yellow daisies and the blue petals are Nigella. I put acetate over the heart before I stuck the honeycombe heart on. The little fairy I've had for years so it was really lovely to find her somewhere to live..Lol  .... with the honeycomb heart open below

This is papermania card, I love the yellow roses.  I inked the edges and added a few punched out buterflies.

..and here's the honeycomb heart opened up

.. More Papermania card is on this one I love the bright yellow with it..
 ..and opened up
No honeycomb paper on this one Lol... I had to do one with Anna Griffin roses.. the vase is part of a teapot card...I love the fresh spring colours.
This heart is covered with some gorgeous wallpaper.. the black is velvet flock! I added gems all around the outside and a few acetate butterflies with foil on the backs.
 ..and here it is opened
Thank you for visiting today.. I hope I've inspired some of you to play with some honeycomb paper..
See you soon..

Wallpaper cards

I have to confess that I have been quite addicted to collecting wallpaper samples over the years.  I can not come out of the DIY shop without a few more samples...
I just love these wallpapers because of the texture.. the animal print looks like real fur!

I used a heart die cutout as a stencil to draw white lines for the bottom heart...

This wallpaper is absolutely gorgeous!.. it is glittered!.. I thought it was just crying out for some sequins and beads.  The black is also wallpaper.. it really feels like real velvet!

So... if you haven't investigated your local wallpaper shop... get along there today.. I know you will find something gorgeous to play with..!!

Add sparkle to Anna Griffin Rose

I got the beautiful 18th century stamp set by Anna Griffin some months ago.  I love the Rose stamps included in this huge kit.  I can't stop playing with them LOL..  I wanted to do the technique that Ali Reeve shows on the TV.. where she inks the stamp in the colours she wants.. spritz it with water, stamps onto damp spritzed paper letting the ink run, creating the coloured base for the stamp.. then drying it off with a heat gun to then over-stamp in black or what ever colour you choose.  I couldn't stop doing them with this lovely stamp he he... so now I have a big pile of ready to use roses!!
I fancied adding glitter but instead of adding actual glitter for a bit of sparkle,so becasue this stamp is a clear one  I re-stamped and embossed with holographic embossing powder.!..I have to say - I love the results!!
Here's a quick card I made using one of them..

.... here, the light catches the embossing...

.... this is the embossing powder I used.. it adds a lovely glitter holographic sparkle.

Thank you for popping by today... I have been busy but will be back with more of these Roses soon..

Honeycombe cards

I love this honeycombe paper.  I've had it a while but never really thought of a way to use it... until my daughter came home with a card that inspired me. It had a  red honeycombe paper star shape that had to be opened out.. using velcro dots to hold it open... it's fabulous!..  so naturally I had to have a go myself Lol..

I used a bigz bauble die for the shapes.  They are great fun to do.
Thanks for visiting.
Happy Christmas!

Thomas Kinkade windows

I love with the Madison Window die by Poppy Stamps, I treated myself to it a few months back.  Here I've used it with some printouts from Joanna Sheens Thomas Kinkade CD Rom.
I used the beautiful Christmas cd from this set - I chose which part of each image looked good 'through the window' and cut to size adding some beautiful stampendous vintage glitter to each scene for some sparkle.  I used a score board to add the embossed lines.
I really like how simple and clean they look.

For these cards I  embossed the front of the card with a brick effect folder, cutting out the window part first.  I cut two madison window dies for each card - one for the front and one for inside the card to look neat.  The 'stained glass effects' are cut outs from a fabulous book I have had for years and years called:
I coloured these with promarkers so they didn't warp the vellum.  I think they look simple but nice.

Reindeers with template

I'ts been a bit quite on my blog recently because I've been busy away from the computer.  One of the things I've enjoyed is  making stuff with my grandson for Christmas.  The houses are finished but I've changed the lights to red.. and put them on a different shelf..

Another project we did was to make some paper reindeers.  I printed them onto card, then we had a great afternoon painting them before cutting them out when they dried.. We added little fluffy tails with cotton wool balls.  The name tags and the jingle bells added a nice little touch.  The sleigh is made from one of my favourite materials - foam board - it's easy to cut and is a bit more stable than card.  We covered it with Christmas papers and used peel offs to decorate.. the little Santa is a beany toy that fitted perfectly in the seat.  My little grandson also enjoyed wrapping little pressys he put in the back of the sleigh.

I can't remember where I got this template from as I've had it for ages.  Here it is.  Print it to fill an A4 sheet.  We painted ours before we cut it out to make it easier, but you could print it onto patterned card.. Have fun!  we did!!

Finished and on display...

I have finished the little houses.  I found some fabulous little trees and battery multi coloured LED lights.  I made little openings to fix 4 LEDs into each of the backs of the houses to hold them in place and mounted all of the houses onto a board.  They fit really well on my photo shelf.

I think I will be making more of these... especially with the kids..!
Here is the website where I got these fabulous house templates

Thanks for looking.

Putz Houses

I recently saw some little glitter house decorations on the web.  I just love the idea of having little hand made paper houses and being able to make each one as individual as I want.  Of course once my Grandson saw what I was making, he wants to make some too.  I have done these so far..

... I feel that these are just the begining Lol... just to get into doing them.  I have used little red LED battery lights poked in the back of each house, there are 20 lights so we will have to get busy .. with my little grandson's help we will have them made  in no time.. !!He he

If anyone is inspired by the thought of making little paper glitter houses (Putz houses) here is a fantastic website with loads of free templates to give it a try for yourself

I will be back with more Lol..

New inspiration from old stash

How many of you are guilty of buying craft stuff and then it lives in the dark corners of your craft cupboards for a long time.. I have a few things like that too.  I dug out my Daisy Dandilion decopage kit and my Anna Griffin Christmas card kit to play with.. both were TSV's years ago on QVC. both 'must haves' at the time Lol..

I think that with all the new and wonderful products that keep coming out, new life can be given to old stash.. I don't buy alot of whats out there ( I would if I could afford to LOL) but there are a few things that catch my eye and I just have to have.

This one is using the beautiful Small Madison window die which I simply had to have.  There are some more gorgeous window dies available too.. the large window like this one, and some absolutely fantastic gothic arch windows too.. they are all on my wish list LOL

I die cut the window where I wanted it to be on a 5" square piece of card - I only wanted the opening left by the die cut so I could  add my silver windows later.. the white diecut I put to one side for another project.
I used one of the beautiful Anna Griffin Christmas trees from a Christmas card set I got years ago from QVC - I glued it to the back of the piece of card.  and mounted the 5" piece of card onto a 6" card with foam tape. I then die cut  2 more windows from silver mirri card.
Using pinflair glue I placed the first silver window into the gap so that it was flush to the window gap, then I curved the second window slightly  with my fingers so that this one could be very slightly raised onto of the first one with pinflair again.   I added a few punched snowflakes and a touch of Stampendous silver halo glitter with the greeting to finish it off.

This card uses one of the gate fold flap opening cards that came in the same Anna Griffin kit.  I thought it looked really nice on the card this way. The Poinsettia is die cut from some Anna Griffin paper from the same kit.

I used some of the Daisy and Dandilion rub ons that came in another card kit from a few years ago for the topper - I used some of the silver halo glitter to sparkle it up.

This card uses some ribbon I've had for ages.  It is a pretty metallic organsa red berry ribbon. I just added the whole embossed piece from the christmas greeting embossing folder and added a die cut snowflake that I cut from some holographic card.
A few punched snowflakes with gems and a pretty spotty bow finished the card for me.

And for the last card I have used a freebie paper for the background, a torn paper tree with bits of My minds eye dear santa card stock.

The teddy bear is a Tear bear.  I used different torn pieces of a lovely paper full of fibres to make up the bear drawing the details on with pen. I think he looks quite happy sitting there in the snow Lol..

Thanks for visiting today, I hope my cards are a bit of fun to look at and maybe get some of you thinking how you can use some of your stash that hasn't seen the light of day for perhaps too long

See you soon..

Getting ready for Christmas...

I've been making bits and pieces ready for my grandchildren (and me Lol) to paint and decorate for this Christmas time.
When I saw this fabulous free Shining Star template from TheToymaker.com  I had to make some in advance ready for one of the creative days we will have before Christmas.

I used cream card for these and decided to put backs onto each one to make them stronger for little ones to handle.. I simply created another template by drawing round an assembled star... also I punched holes and threaded some wool through so they can be  easily hung up.

I can't wait to start painting them and be one of the kids now LOL!!

Thanks for visiiting..
